New sponsor to move India's development Arrows to Calcutta

All India Football Federation (AIFF) is shifting its developmental side, the Indian Arrows, to Calcutta for the new I-League season, sources have told The Telegraph. Ten of India's U-23 team are currently members of the Arrows, which was formed last season to prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.

After playing from Gurgaon and finishing ninth in the recently concluded I-League, the Arrows will now be sponsored by Pailan Group for the next three years and will be based in Calcutta alongside I-League clubs East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and United Sports Club.

“The sponsors have agreed to take care of the team’s boarding and lodging and would also pay the AIFF annual sponsorship money with an increase of 10% every season,” sources told The Telegraph.

The AIFF will, however,  remain in charge of the technical aspects of the team, including selection of players, coaches and other technical staff members.
