Malaysian talent spotted by PSV during CYC

Malaysia U-19 footballer Mohd Asraruddin Putra Omar caught the eye of Netherlands club side PSV Eindhoven during the Champions Youth Cup and have offered him the opportunity to attend a two-week stint at the club with the possibility of joining the club’s youth program. “We saw player No. 3 play against us and the match before and we came away impressed. We would like to take him to PSV for a few weeks and see more of him in action,” PSV coach Peter Dekkers told The Star. Asraruddin, a leftback, was vice-skipper in the Malaysian squad and took over the captain’s armband from the injured Bunyamin Omar in the match against PSV. In the absence of Bunyamin for the PSV game, Asraruddin moved into the centre back position and handled himself well. A former student at the Bukit Jalil Sports School Asraruddin played a crucial role in helping Malaysia qualify for the AFC U-20 Championship for the first time in over 20 years.
