Liverpool will face Portsmouth in the final of the English Premier League's 2007 Barclay's Asian Trophy being played in Hong Kong after beating HK FA Cup winner South China 3-1. Jon Arne Riise opened the scoring for the Reds with a thunderous free kick in the tenth minute. Spanish star Xabi Alonso converted a penalty four minutes later to put Liverpool 2-0 up after new signing Andriy Voronin was fouled in the box. South China managed to pull one back before half time with a long range effort by captain Li Haiqiang. Livcerpool's Daniel Agger rounded off the scoring in the 74 minute. Portsmouth booked its place in the final thanks to a Benjani Mwaruwari goal. The Pompey striker fired home from eight metres on the stroke of half-time after collecting a deflected Nico Kranjar shot. South China will play Fulham in the third place playoff.
