Japan draws coach fury after 1-1 draw with Qatar

Celtic FC midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura admitted Japan coach Ivica Osim tore into his players after the surprise 1-1 draw with Qatar in the teams' opening AFC Asian Cup 2007 match in Hanoi. "Osim was in a rage. He said he was a professional and prepared to put his life on the line and that we should do the same. He said 'you are not amateurs and you should hold on to the end ... I'm fighting the games to the last and you guys should also play games with the same attitude.' His interpreter was in tears and couldn't translate most of it," Nakamura told reporters. Naohiro Takahara looked to have sealed the win for Japan when he bagged an exceptional spin-around back-heel at the hour mark but Uruguay-born striker Sebastian Quintana snatched an equaliser for Qatar with a deflected free kick two minutes from time.
