Vision India's Manipur State League kicks off

The Manipur State League, an AFC Vision India project, has been launched. Manipur Governor Dr S S Sidhu, Indian minister for Information and Broadcasting and All India Football Federation president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, AFC General Secretary Dato’ Peter Velappan and other football and government officials were present at the ceremony.

Manipur sports minister Govindas Konthjum assured his government’s support to AMFA and the league. “I am sure Manipur will give a new direction to Indian football,” he said as quoted by AFCMedia.

Twelve teams are taking part in this two round league, which will conclude on 31 March 2007. In the first match, Tiddim Road Athletic Union defeated Southern Sporting Union 2-0.
