Philippines and Laos qualiy for AFF Cup finals

The Philippines and Laos qualified for the Asian Football Confederation's South East Asian zone's ASEAN Football Federation Cup after coming through the qualifiers. The Philippines finished runners-up with a 4-1 defeat of Brunei while Laos topped the qualifying. Both teams join Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam in the tournament proper which will take place from 12 January - 3 February 2007 in Singapore and Thailand. The AFF championship, previously known as the Tiger Cup, takes place every two years. The winners and runners-up in each of the two groups go through to the semi-finals and the final, which are played on a home and away format.
