ESPN Mobile to launch in Asia with World Cup

A deal between NeuStar, Bridge Mobile and ESPN STAR will enable the delivery of Mobile ESPN services in seven Asia Pacific locations, including India, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Indonesia. "To make the service launch a reality," Susan Rush reported in Wirelessweek, Bridge Mobile signed a content licensing deal, its first regional content services offering. Rights were obtained through NeuStar's Singapore-based subsidiary NeuStar Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.

Bridge Mobile and its partners initially will launch Mobile ESPN's coverage of the 2006 World Cup. In the coming months, however, additional sports content will be available, including content and service applications covering football, cricket, tennis, golf and rugby, as well as major sports leagues such as the English Premier League, Major League Baseball and National Basketball Association.
