Dronacharya awardeee Syed Nayeemuddin has been appointed the coach for the Indian national football team until the Doha Asian Games in 2006. He replaced Sukhwinder Singh who has been under great pressure since the national team lost to Pakistan and Fiji. All Indian Football Federation president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi reportedly said the new coach's performance would be reviewed after the SAF Games in Pakistan starting 6 December. "Indians do not lack talent. They only need to work hard along with better facilities and more money," he said. Nayeemuddin previously served as national coach in 1987-88 and 1997-98 and is a certified FIFA coach. The AIFF is also expected to announce the appointment of a "competent foreign technical director".
