Football chosen to boost tourism to Britain

English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore believes top-flight football can boost tourism, after announcing a partnership with a marketing agency to increase visitors to Britain. VisitBritain have joined forces with the Barclays Premiership in an agreement until 2006 aimed at promoting tourism in the country. The agreement includes pitch-side advertising space at all Premiership matches.

"The Premier League is immensely popular throughout the world and we hope the exposure this will give VisitBritain will help ensure that more people choose this great country as a holiday destination. Our clubs already attract fans from across Europe, Asia, America and Africa and I am sure they all find Britain has plenty to offer in addition to the football," Mr Scudamore said.
